Pamela is currently seeing patients virtually. In-person sessions in Rockville and Montgomery County, and virtual sessions in Washington, DC, are coming soon.
For the NY-based group practice, virtual therapy is available with Meghan or Olivia from anywhere in New York City or New York State. In-person sessions may also be available, depending on the clinician. Inquire for details.

I see psychotherapy patients a minimum of once a week. I encourage a higher frequency of weekly sessions, because this is what assists in building the therapeutic alliance, deepens your understanding of yourself, and actually creates more containment for people who are easily dysregulated by intolerable emotions and intrusive thoughts. You’re trying to learn how to exist in the world in a different way, and that takes time to practice. I want to honor that.
Coming to therapy more often isn't a sign of being "sicker" — it can actually be a sign of your emotional capacity to tolerate more, and it's what helps build the therapeutic relationship and create real containment. How long you decide to work with me is up to you, but I've found that longer treatment tends to produce the most lasting outcomes.

All fees are discussed directly with prospective patients. Please inquire.

Pam is not currently accepting new insurance patients.
Some of our therapists in the group practice have openings to see New York based patients who have Blue Cross Blue Shield. Please inquire to confirm availability.

That's okay, we can still work together. Like most therapists in this field, I'm not an in-network provider for most insurance plans. I'll provide you with a monthly receipt of payment that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please note not all insurance companies reimburse for out-of-network providers.
Questions worth asking your insurance provider (call the member services number on the back of your card):
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
If so, is an LCSW covered?
What is my out-of-network deductible, and has it been met?
How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
How much will I be reimbursed for out-of-network providers?
How can I submit my monthly receipt?
If you need any information from Pam, please email directly at pamela@pamelapolizzi.com.

Payments for therapy sessions are charged at the time the service is provided, so you can expect your credit card on file to be charged by the end of the day when you had your therapy session. You will then receive an invoice for the session.
If you are using out-of-network benefits for therapy, a receipt of payment for all the month’s services will be emailed to you at the end of each month to submit to your insurance company.

I have a two-business-day cancellation policy — for a Monday appointment, that means canceling by the Friday before. If you don't cancel within two business days, you'll be charged the full cost of the session, even if you don't attend.

No, you won't get a worksheet or weekly homework assignment from me. It's just not my style. I was trained in behavioral models of treatment for eating disorders, but I believe a worksheet or formulaic homework approach is a bit like BMI — it doesn't account for the uniqueness of you.
Behavioral treatment models matter to the field, but they're not you-based and that's part of what sets this work apart.
